Written while touring across German and Austrian festivals this summer, and feeling the urge to both play new material as well as try and escape her everyday life, AUTO was the product thereof. She dreamt of a song that wouldn’t be amiss in Falco’s Mitsubishi Pajero as he’s driving around recklessly in the Dominican Republic, or in the soundtrack to the movie Richy Guitar, which features Die Ärzte and Nena - all of which are given nods to in the song’s lyrics.&nbsp;The music video was directed by Grégoire Léon-Dufour, and continues his longstanding collaborative work with Sofie. She was classically trained in composition and concert violin at the Conservatory of Vienna, and has played both violin and viola professionally in the Vienna Young Philharmonic and the Vienna Academic Philharmonic. Her latest record, Young-Girl Forever, released in November 2024 on Stones Throw Records, has been lauded by The Guardian: “her new wave style hits harder than ever on an excellent album, making Royer one of Europe’s most perplexingly overlooked pop stars, with appealing vocals and old-money glamour”. She has performed live on BBC 6 Music, France Culture / Radio France, Radio Nova, Deutschlandfunk, German national TV morning talk show ZDF’s “Morgen Magazin Cafe”, and most recently a KEXP live session. Most recently, she has both scored and acted in Audrey Diwan’s adaptation of French cult film, Emmanuelle (2024), alongside Naomi Watts, and garnered nominations for Best Pop Album at the Libera Awards in NYC in June, as well as being nominated for Best Production and Best Pop/Rock Artist at the Austrian Amadeus Music Awards. Sofie has opened for Lana del Rey at L’Olympia in Paris, Air at the Philharmonie in Paris, LCD Soundsystem. She has collaborated with Toro Y Moi, Lewis OfMan, Eli Keszler, Keinemusik &amp;ME and Kavinsky. She has worked on bespoke live performances and/or DJ sets with several brands including but not limited to Cartier, Chanel, Hermes, Gucci, Longchamp, Ralph Lauren, Prada.
